Baccarat Variants, Super Pan Nine
Baccarat has a number of variants. If you find that standard baccarat is a bit of a bore, check out other versions the game. This page looks at Super Pan Nine, a baccarat version that is played like blackjack. You do not have to obey preset rules on hand moves. You can make your own decisions. With good strategy, you can have more success in the game than an average player.
Standard Baccarat
In standard baccarat, gamblers can bet on one of two sides: bank and player. The side which gets as score of 9 or as close as possible to 9 wins the game. Two cards are dealt to both player and banker and each may draw a third card depending on the rules. Both bank and player bets pay even money while tie bets pay 8 to 1. Additionally, the bank bet comes with a 5% commission for the casino that hosts the game.
Baccarat Variant: Super Pan Nine
Cards and Card Values
Super Pan Nine is baccarat with cards 7 through 10 removed. Only ace, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and court cards are used. These cards bear the traditional baccarat values.
Decks
Super Pan Nine is normally played with six or eight decks.
Dealing
Super Pass Nine can either have a permanent banker/dealer or a rotating one like in poker. In many casinos - especially online casinos - a casino employee serves as a permanent dealer. This makes it easier for many players especially novices.
Playing and Drawing
Play ensues when the dealer/banker deals three cards to the player and him/herself. Yes, three cards instead of two as in standard baccarat. These cards are all dealt as facing down.
If the dealer/banker an employee of the casino's, they must draw a fourth card if their total is 0-5. If the dealer/banker is a player, they can choose not to draw if they don't want to.
If the player chooses to draw a fourth card, the card will be given facing up.
Betting and Payoffs
In Super Pan Nine, a tie wager pays out at 7 to 1 if it wins. In the event of a tie, all bets are returned.
Conclusion
Because the player's hand decisions are not predetermined, Super Pan Nine allows room for strategy. A good player will know when to stand and when to draw. This makes this game a lot like blackjack. In other baccarat variants including the standard, players can only choose which side to bet on.
